Why we may ask you to verify your identity

What to expect if you are asked to confirm your identity, and why it helps.

Why we may ask you to verify

In some cases, we may ask you to confirm your identity to keep your account secure and meet our obligations under Canadian law. This usually happens when you redeem a large number of points, request a high-value reward, or perform an action that requires us to verify you are who you say you are.

Identity verification is not required for most day-to-day activity. You can earn and spend points freely without it. But for certain thresholds or actions, we need to make sure your account is secure and prevent misuse.

What you need to provide

If verification is requested, you will see a prompt in the app or receive a message explaining what to do. Usually, this means uploading a photo of a government-issued ID and sometimes a selfie to confirm it matches. The process is quick and you only need to do it once.

All documents are handled privately and used only to confirm your identity. We do not share your information with anyone outside of what is required by law, and we store it securely.

What happens after you verify

Once your identity is confirmed, the action you were trying to take - such as redeeming a reward or withdrawing funds - will be processed. Your account is marked as verified, so you will not need to go through the process again unless regulations change or a new requirement applies.
