How it works
Earn at the counter
Tap your phone on the shop's SoPoints tag, or show the QR code on your card. Points land in seconds. The default is 1 point per $1, and each shop can set its own rate.
Keep it on one card
The same card works at every participating shop, and the app shows what you have with each one. Add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet so it is one swipe away.
Pick a reward
Choose a reward from the shop and show the voucher at the counter. 1,000 points is $10.00.
For customers
The SoPoints app keeps your balance, rewards and bookings in one place. This is what is inside, rebuilt here as the real thing.

Payments through Stripe
Plan billing, waitlist deposits and no-show fees are processed by Stripe. Card numbers go to Stripe, not to us.
A Canadian company
Sopoints Technology Inc. is based in Toronto, Ontario. Canadian businesses pay in Canadian dollars and US businesses in US dollars.
Marketing only with consent
Shops can only send you offers if you opt in, and the box is never pre-ticked. Mute one shop or all of them from your settings.
Two-factor sign-in and passkeys

For customers
How much is a point worth?
1,000 points is worth $10.00 USD, and the value is fixed: every point is $0.01, so 100 points is $1.00. The default earn rate is 1 point per $1 spent, and each shop sets its own rate, so some give more.
Can I use my points at any shop?
Points you earn at a shop go towards that shop's rewards. The same card works at every participating shop, and the app shows your points and rewards for each one.
Does it cost anything?
No. The app and your account are free.
How does the card work?
Your card has a QR code the shop scans at checkout, and you can add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Your points show up in the app right away.
What is tap to earn?
Some shops keep a SoPoints NFC tag at the counter. Hold your phone near it while you are signed in and your points are added. No scanning needed.
How do tiers work?
Your tier is based on the points you have earned over time: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Some shops give higher tiers extra points on every purchase.
Do I get something on my birthday?
Add your birthday to your profile. Shops that run birthday offers can send you a treat on the day, like bonus points or a voucher.
Can I earn by referring friends?
Yes. Share your code from the app. When your friend makes their first purchase, you both get bonus points.
Do points expire?
It depends on the shop, and it always follows provincial rules. If any of your points are due to expire, we remind you 30 days before.
For businesses
Do I need special hardware or a POS integration?
No. SoPoints has its own POS screen that runs in a web browser on any tablet, phone or computer, and the Merchant app has a POS mode. There is nothing to install and nothing to connect to your till.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan covers one location and a monthly points allowance, so you can start giving points before you pay anything. The plan table above shows exactly what each plan includes.
How do customers join?
They can download the app, or you can add them at the counter with a phone number or email and we send them a link to finish setting up. For regulars who prefer paper, print them a QR card.
Are the points only for my shop?
Yes. Points you give out are redeemed for your rewards, at your counter. You set the earn rate and choose the rewards.
Can I message my customers?
Yes, with customer messaging, which you can add to your plan. Push and email reach customers who opted in, SMS can be added too, and every message is checked before it goes out.
Can I take reservations and deposits?
Plans with waitlist and reservations include a live queue, floor plan and booking calendar. Plans with deposits can hold a card through Stripe and charge a no-show fee you set.
Can my staff use it?
Yes, on plans with multiple staff. Give each person their own sign-in and role, so a cashier can award and redeem points without seeing your billing.
