Sopoints connects to your point of sale over OAuth — you authorise Sopoints from inside your POS account, choose which locations to sync, and transactions begin flowing immediately. Square and Lightspeed are live today.

More native integrations are on the way for the point of sale platforms most common in Canadian retail and hospitality. In the meantime, any of these can connect today through the Sopoints REST API and webhooks.

How the integration works
When a sale completes, your POS sends a webhook to Sopoints. Sopoints identifies the customer from the identifier captured at checkout, calculates points from your configured points-per-dollar rate, and credits the customer wallet through a double-entry ledger so every point is auditable.
Redemptions run the same path in reverse: the customer applies a reward, Sopoints validates and debits the balance, and the discount is returned to the POS as a tender or discount line depending on the platform.
No POS? No problem
A POS integration is a convenience, not a requirement. Plenty of businesses run their entire loyalty program with a printed QR code at the till or an NFC tag on the counter. Customers scan or tap, confirm the purchase amount, and points are credited — no integration, no hardware cost.
REST API and webhooks for custom systems
If you run an in-house or unsupported POS, the Sopoints REST API exposes the same capabilities as the native integrations: award points, redeem rewards, look up customers, and read transaction history. Outbound webhooks notify your system when points are earned or redeemed so you can keep your own records in sync.
