Sopoints is a waitlist and reservation system for independent restaurants, cafes, salons and shops in Canada and the United States that bundles deposits, no-show fees, a loyalty program and QR payments into one account. Two different centres of gravity
Waitwhile positions itself as "the unified platform for walk-ins and appointments" and "a queue management platform designed for global enterprises". Its public site talks about deploying across hundreds of sites, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification, HIPAA, SSO and an API for CRM and ERP systems. That is a product built for organisations with many service points and an IT team, and it is very good at that job.
Sopoints starts from the independent venue: a restaurant with one host stand, a barber with three chairs, a cafe with a line out the door on Saturday. The waitlist, reservations, kiosk mode, guest tracking page and notifications are all there, but they sit next to a points program, digital wallet cards and Scan & Pay on the same account. You get one login, one customer record and one bill.
Deposits and no-show fees are the biggest functional gap
At the time of writing, neither the Waitwhile homepage nor its pricing page mentions taking a deposit or charging a no-show fee. The only payment language on the pricing page is about how you pay Waitwhile (invoicing and purchase orders on Enterprise). If you need card holds for large parties or a cancellation policy that is actually enforced, confirm with Waitwhile whether that exists through an integration.
Sopoints has it built in through Stripe. A card hold can be authorised when the guest books and released when they show, or the deposit can be charged up front. The no-show fee is capped at the hold, cancellation tiers have a refund window, and payouts go to your own Stripe account. Pricing models
Waitwhile publishes a free plan that, at the time of writing, is limited to one location and a small number of visits per month, with paid tiers priced by locations and total visits and a custom Enterprise tier. SMS to guests is credit-based on the free plan. That is a clean, honest model, but the visit cap means a busy single-location restaurant will outgrow the free plan quickly. Sopoints has a permanent free plan with no credit card and no visit clock. Paid plans add multi-location, advanced campaigns, SMS and priority support. Loyalty, payments and the same guest record
A guest who joins your Sopoints waitlist can earn loyalty points on the same account, so the queue doubles as an enrolment channel. Waitwhile does not offer a loyalty program on its public site.
Sopoints points are a shared currency (Loyalty Wallet Points) that customers can spend across participating merchants, worth one cent in the merchant's currency. Waitwhile is a queue tool, not a rewards network.
Scan & Pay lets a customer pay you by scanning a QR code in the Sopoints app and earn points on that transaction, with no card reader. Waitwhile has no payments product on its public pages.

When Waitwhile is the right choice
Choose Waitwhile if you are running a pure queue or appointment operation with no interest in loyalty: a clinic, a campus service desk, a government office, a large retail chain with dozens of stores. Its enterprise security certifications, SSO, HIPAA support and CRM-grade API are things Sopoints does not offer, and its analytics across many locations are built for exactly that scale. If your IT department needs SAML or a data-location guarantee, Waitwhile is the safer bet.
Choose Sopoints if you are an independent business that wants the waitlist, reservations with deposits, loyalty and QR payments from one vendor, wants a free plan that is not capped by visits, and operates in Canada or the United States.
