Marketplace discovery vs owned channels
Yelp's pitch is reach. Its Guest Manager page describes "the largest restaurant consumer network in the U.S." and says your tables can be listed on Yelp, Reserve with Google, Apple Maps, ChatGPT, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok from one system. If a diner is already searching Yelp for dinner tonight, Guest Manager puts a book-now button in front of them. That is a genuine advantage and Sopoints does not have an equivalent diner marketplace.

Yelp Guest Manager says it can "reduce no shows with credit card holds, automated alerts, and two-way texting". Its public page does not spell out how deposit amounts, cancellation windows or fee caps work, so ask Yelp for the specifics before you rely on them. Two-way texting and automated alerts are useful on their own, and a card-hold option is a real step up from a reservation system that only sends reminders.

At the time of writing its product page shows a published monthly price range, promises no per-cover fees and advertises a complimentary iPad plus introductory offers. There is no free plan on the page. That is a fair model for a restaurant that will use the marketplace, but a subscription is still a subscription for a small venue that only needs a waitlist. When Yelp Guest Manager is the right choice
Choose Yelp Guest Manager if a meaningful share of your covers already comes from Yelp and you want reservations and waitlist to live where those diners are looking. If you operate only in the United States, want a complimentary iPad and floor-map table management, and value being bookable from Google, Apple Maps and social platforms through one system, Yelp is built for exactly that and the marketplace exposure is something Sopoints cannot replace.
Choose Sopoints if you would rather own the booking channel than rent it, want a free plan and your own hardware, need enforceable deposits and no-show fees with clear refund rules, want loyalty and QR payments on the same account, or operate in Canada.
